The Mitsubishi Lancer has been named as the UK’s most reliable car of the last 15 years by aftermarket warranty company, Warranty Direct. The company uses a unique system called the Reliability Index to rate individual car’s reliability.
The Lancer topped the list, with cars from Japan and the Far-East dominating proceedings. Only the Vauxhall Agila (2000-2008 model), Volvo S40 (1996-2004 model) and Mercedes E-Class (2006-2009 model) represented Europe in the top ten.
The Mitsubishi had an astonishingly reliable record, with only one in ten breaking down in any given 12 month period. Two thirds of these break downs could be put down to axle and suspension faults. The Vauxhall Agila achieved second place, with the Suzuki Alto coming in third.
